Replacing a gas cooker or hob: a quote-ready checklist

Boilers8 September 2026

Prepare a gas cooker or hob enquiry with appliance details, current connection, ventilation, worktop, electrical supply and removal responsibilities.

A gas cooker or hob replacement needs the exact old and new appliance details. Dimensions alone do not confirm that the connection, ventilation, clearances, supports, worktop opening or electrical supply are suitable.

Send both appliance specifications

Provide the new model, product link and installation instructions, plus the current appliance make and model where known. Photograph the kitchen layout and visible isolation arrangement without moving the appliance or disturbing any connection.

Separate every responsibility

Confirm who disconnects and removes the old appliance, changes the worktop or cabinet, supplies any electrical outlet, installs the new unit and disposes of packaging. A gas engineer, electrician and kitchen fitter may need to coordinate.

Check the engineer’s category

Use a Gas Safe registered engineer whose current ID-card work categories cover the appliance. Do not assume that registration for one type of gas appliance automatically proves every category.

See LP10 gas cooker, hob and heating enquiries or send a combined kitchen request.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Quick answers before you enquire.

Can a delivery team always connect a gas cooker?

Do not assume so. Confirm the retailer’s service and use a Gas Safe registered engineer with the correct appliance category where gas work is required.

Can a new hob fit the existing worktop opening?

The product dimensions and manufacturer requirements must be compared with the opening, support, clearances and surrounding materials.

Can LP10 coordinate electrical and cabinet work too?

Yes. Select each required trade on the quote form and describe who is expected to handle every part.
